The origin can be traced back to the 16th century when it was used as a riding school for the counts of Potenza, the de Guevara; from these in 1604 it passed to the Loffredo counts, who subsequently sold it to the Addoni, then it passed to the Ciccotti, and towards the end of the 1800s, due to family ties, the Pignatari took over. Only the ancient portal overlooking largo Pignatari is preserved from the palace.
