The Guevara tower is what remains of the castle dating back to the 10th - 11th century. This structure originally had a layout consisting of a cylindrical tower connected to a short wall enclosure. The tower could date back to the 9th century in conjunction with the restructuring of the urban walls. Subsequently, the fortified structure that would transform it into the castle of the counts of Potenza would have arisen around it. The entire castle complex has undergone, in the last four centuries, countless changes of destination and consequent modifications, from hospice to barracks, from hospital to a long abandonment, until the demolition of the 1960s to make room for a school building. This structure was recently demolished to give the community a new Piazza Guevara with green areas, inaugurated in July 2024.
