PALAZZO ALIANELLI

Audio guide · EN 0:00 / 0:00

Palace built in the 17th century has undergone transformations following various renovations. It was the residence of statesman Nicola Alianelli to whom the street itself is dedicated today. On the facade of the secondary entrance to the palace a dedicatory epigraph has been placed. During excavations for the consolidation work on the palace foundations, a stone mailbox was brought to light on which the year domini '1824' was engraved. Restored and returned to its ancient splendor, it is placed at the entrance to the palace visible through the glass of the main iron door. Outside, the cell gate is unchanged, which presumably was a passage for prisoners awaiting trial, since a little further on there was the seat of the Court.
