In past centuries it belonged to the ancient Potenza families Amati, Iorio and Cantorio, towards the end of the 1800s it was purchased by the Bonifacio family. The building overlooks via Pretoria and still preserves today the typology of the seventeenth-century palace, characterized by its imposing and severe mass, with walls marked by few openings so that the palace seems closed around the small courtyard like a fort. The palace is crossed by an imposing cornice on stone brackets, terminated by a pediment in stone and bricks, and by a notable portal also in stone formed by large ashlars alternating one with smooth rustication and one with two rustications. The remaining openings are small ovals or simple windows with stone frames.
On the ground floor two minor portals with archivolt and keystone mascaron, allowed access to the service rooms of the palace. The courtyard is paved and still bears part of the original furnishings: three rings fixed in the wall that were used to stop animals, one of which is fixed in a notable stone mascaron. Four arquebus loopholes of about 30 cm can still be seen, under the plaster of the walls opposite the entrance, laterally to the windows, historical testimonies of the use of the palace-fort. The palace is a structure subject to monumental constraint.
